Although all aquarium snails could eat algae, but there are some types of snails that specialize more in eating algae and could eat a whole lot of them in a short while, thereby keeping your tank clean.

Turbo snails could live very long and they are one of the aquarium snails with the longest lifespan.
They could live up to 20 years if everything is okay with them, as there are so many factors that could influence their lifespan such as the type of food they eat, the environment they live in, etc.

They are not only one of the snails with the longest lifespan, they are also one of the biggest aquarium snails because they could get up to 4-6 inches in size if everything is alright with them.
When I mention that they could live far longer if they are very comfortable, what I mean is, once all they need is provided and once they could enjoy the same comfort they do enjoy in the wild, then they could live longer.
Turbo snails require the same conditions as fish in a reef aquarium. They require a tropical temperature between 72 and 80 degrees Fahrenheit.
Also, their water must have a specific gravity of 1.020 and 1.024. The pH will range between 8.0 and 8.4.

One of the reasons why they don’t last so long in captivity as they do in the wild is because, naturally, they feel freer and could eat all they want in the wild, but in captivity, they don’t. So, the highest they could last in captivity is between 2 years to 10 or a bit more.
Do You Need To Feed Turbo Snails?
Yes, all snails need to be fed, including Turbo snails.
Every living thing needs food in order to stay strong and alive, and snails being living things need food too.
Although Turbo snails specialize more in eating algae in captivity, that doesn’t mean they shouldn’t be fed with other foods.

If you have this type of snail, you might want to expose their tank a bit to sunlight, so that algae could form in the tank for them to eat.
Don’t let them eat only algae, also supplement it with nutritious foods so that your snails will still be healthy and active.
Although Turbo snails are somewhat hardy, but they could break down and have their lifespan shortened when they are exposed to hunger and stress, etc.
